The city of Lacombe is located in the central region of Alberta, Canada. It is situated about 25 km north of Red Deer and approximately 125 km south of Edmonton. The city is located in an area of rolling hills and parkland, situated between the foothills of the Rocky Mountains to the west and the flat prairies of Alberta to the east. Lacombe was granted city status in Alberta on September 5, 2010, making it the 17th city in the province.
The City of Lacombe had a population of 13,396 according to the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada. This was a 2.6% increase from the population of 13,057 recorded in the 2016 census. The city had 5,194 of its 5,552 total private dwellings occupied in 2021. The land area of the city was 20.59 km2 (7.95 sq mi), giving it a population density of 650.6/km2 (1,685.1/sq mi). According to the city's 2019 municipal census, the population was 13,985, a 9.9% increase from the population recorded in the 2014 municipal census, which was 12,728.
